Description
Mel Moran bakes her own cakes, brownies, flapjacks and pastries then the enticing and irresistible aroma of freshly baked goods wafts from the kitchen still flooding the senses as much as it did generations ago. Cakes and pastries, whilst delicious are far from the icing on the cake! A full Cornish breakfast is served in the cafe from 9.30 am including award winning local sausages and bacon. For something a little lighter eggs can be scrambled, poached, fried or boiled served with dipping soldiers or thick, buttered toast and jam, marmalade and Marmite. Our lunchtime menu offers a large variety of sandwiches, paninis, baguettes and toasties; also local pasties, huge bowls of chips, freshly made soups, salads, chillis and cured meats and smoked fish platters are served.
The delicatessen also provides a takeaway service including cold meat, pate, olives, peppers and an excellent selection of Cornish cheeses. Jams, oils and chutneys decorate the shelves and are all available to buy for a DIY picnic! We also offer afternoon teas. In the evening the cafe is transformed into a relaxed and informal and licensed bistro where the emphasis is on locally caught fish, cooked by former trawlerman and now celebrated local chef, Ian Murray. Moran’s bistro is a very popular with locals and holidaymakers and so reservations are highly recommended.
